A new Church …an old partnership

c3fee167-39c3-4ab2-a222-39b3bc15282cOver the last 10 years, ADTH has built relationships with many translators in our outreach into Haiti. One of our long-term translators is a man named Arnold. Arnold is from Neply and for the last few years has been enrolled in Seminary. He graduated this past spring and not long ago he shared with our staff that God had lead him to begin a Church on the outskirts of the village of Grand Goave. We were thrilled to hear that a long-time partner with ADTH was going to be pastoring a Church near where we minister to the people of Grand Goave. Early this summer, Pastor Arnold walked me to the new Church. We walked through a village, up a long hill, and onto a bluff that overlooks the ocean. I stood looking at a makeshift structure framed with sticks, thatched walls, and without much of a  roof. It was in this location that he shared with me his calling from God to reach out to these people. He shared that even before there were benches to sit on, people were coming to worship God in this place. I immediately knew that our partnership with Arnold that had begun so long ago…was continuing. This summer our teams led VBS within those makeshift thatched walls. Parents brought their children and stayed to listen to the teachings about Jesus. Our teams also began to build benches so that those who came to worship would have a place to sit. At the end of the summer, many children laughed, played, and heard about Jesus. Many benches were built and presented to the Church. The community has already begun to ask Pastor Arnold if there could be a school added to the Church in the future. These loving parents have no nearby school available for their children and desire the opportunities that an education brings. More to come as we follow God’s leading with Pastor Arnold…
